Responses to the Star Wars Family Guy episode
Apparently, not everyone loved the most recent Family Guy episode: Blue Harvest, a fantastic spoof on Star Wars. Here are some responses I’ve been finding on the webernets.
This first entry is from a Star Wars blog, written by someone named DTFWriter:
Hey, I’ve never watched Family Guy. ONLY REASON I tuned in: Star Wars. What a disappointment. First off, I thought he was going to “tell the story” of Star Wars. What got instead was an irreverant and vulgar imitation using (presumably) familiar characters from the show. How unoriginal. And gross. I turned it off. Now I know why I’ve never watched the show to begin with.
Well, to each his own, I guess. Here’s another one, this time from MeeVee titled Totally Frakked: “Family Guy” Kicks Off The (Geek) Season With Style:
It’s not easy to get permission from George Lucas to do a serious “Star Wars” parody. How “Family Guy,” easily one of the most perverse and irreverent shows on TV, talked Lucas into the “Return Of The Griffins” episode for its season opener is anyone’s guess, but it was absolutely worth the price of admission. The episode did what “Family Guy” does best, pop-culture references (what “Star Wars” parody would be complete without a “Doctor Who” joke?) and jaw-droppingly crude humor.

Overall, this was a fun episode to watch. I thought that MacFarlane kept to the story pretty well, and there were enough corny jokes to make it amusing. I don’t know if the Family Guy purists would have enjoyed the show, but hopefully they gave it a try.

the simple fact is people who bash these shows have a low self estime and a crappy life in the begin with they should look at these shows a say tap on the shoulder well done but instead these are the freaks who watch star trek and say this guy did not say his line right or goofy stuff like that! poeple need to grow up and say i cant do any better. its easier to criticize then to create something better so to all viewers of family guy who find it repulsive…. GET A JOB YOU HOBBOES
