Carol Burnett’s lawsuit against Family Guy is dismissed
I am glad about this; I thought it made Carol Burnett look pretty stupid to be getting so upset about it. I mean, it was kind of a TRIBUTE to her, you know? Not a slam on her comedic legacy, for cripes’ sake:
Burnett had filed a case in the U.S District Court after the cult-animated series featured her in an 18-second clip in April 2006.
In the footage, Carol Burnett’s cleaning woman character was in a sex store while copyrighted music was played without permission.
However, Los Angeles federal U.S. District Judge, Dean Pregerson, has dismissed the case at a tentative ruling. He will soon make the decision official.
20th Century Fox, the network behind the cartoon, released a statement saying "it was surprised" that there was so much animosity over such a short clip.
